INTRODUCTION:

The South Carolina State University-Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is sponsored and funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration.  The SBDC offers numerous services to small businesses.  These services include free expert consulting services, concentrated training, and information resources. The SBDC is dedicated to the success of small business persons and entrepreneurs in the following counties:  Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun, Colleton, Hampton and Orangeburg.

South Carolina State University – Small Business Development Center (SBDC) was established in 1979 and is an administrative unit within the College of Business and Applied Professional Sciences.  Under the supervision of the dean, the Center implements a part of the school’s service goals and serves as a resource for classroom and application-oriented interactions with faculty and students.  The Center’s activities also implement a part of the University’s mission to provide education, conduct research and provide service to the state of South Carolina.

MISSION STATEMENT:

At the South Carolina State University-Small Business Development Center we develop, evaluate, and disseminate programs that foster economic growth and development throughout our assigned area in South Carolina to individuals and the business community with technical assistance and quality management to create a favorable climate for entrepreneurship – qualities we believe are essential to leading productive lives and prosperous businesses in a democratic society.
